Discord Quest Cannes

We teamed up with Discord to create captivating visuals for their debut at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

To celebrate gaming culture, we partnered with Discord to support their launch of Orbs, A new currency within their gamified Quests platform.

Inspired by beloved gaming genres, we did some worldbuilding to make a looping backdrop for their beachside soiree. Guests explored a magical medieval realm full of secrets, a cozy landscape that resembles slow-paced comfort games, and a gritty industrial landscape echoing classic first-person shooter games.  Hidden throughout each environment were collectible Orbs that teased a brand new Discord feature, inviting attendees on a visual journey grounded in nostalgia, gameplay, and community.

The experience came to life with a special DJ set by DJ Pee .Wee (aka Anderson .Paak) and was part of a larger discussion that included thought-provoking panels featuring Jules Shumaker, Adam Bauer, and Meena Mutha.

Initial Explorations

We explored a few different directions at first; one with a beach theme to tie into the event’s seaside setting, and another that leaned more abstract. Ultimately, to make it feel unmistakably Discord, we shifted toward game-inspired visuals.
